Summer is over again and it’s back to the early dark nights and the cold weather. I will miss the extended daylight for squeezing in a little extra painting time, although to compensate I do have my trusty wood burner to keep my studio snug.
To begin my progress report: earlier this year I was contacted by Artique Gallery Ltd. from Windsor. The Gallery is a publisher of high quality greetings cards working to raise funds for the Bomber Command Memorial Appeal. Funds raised will go towards a permanent memorial in our nation’s capital to the 55,573 aircrew of RAF Bomber Command who gave their lives in the Second World War, to secure our freedom and preserve our way of life.
15% of the wholesale price is donated to the appeal. Please visit my website card section for info on these cards here.

Progress of paintings
I am nearing completion of the Typhoon painting. I am just waiting to arrange a photo shoot with a re-enactor which I feel will enhance the painting. Possibly a pilot with a ground crew member walking slowly to the aircraft in the near to middle ground would do nicely.

I have also got underway the third painting for the Royal Artillery. The painting represents the Falklands depicting the Rapier 2000 ground to Air Missile System sited at Poon Hill.

Another painting I have is of a Mackerel Sky. This is the sort of thing I like to do when/if I ever get a spare moment. I will do a sky; regardless sometimes of weather I have anything to put in it! I have a mind to put a squadron of something in it. Certainly from experience of the past, it would be a shame to make the subject too big. For me, the painting is the sky, and the inclusion of an aircraft would be an added bonus. I would quite like to paint the Vulcan being fuelled in mid air from a Victor. This would necessitate the rendition of the individual aircraft as very small, a must in this composition!

Well I think this is about it for this time, so until Dec. best of luck,
Robin.
