This image represents the east coast of North Yorkshire. I couldn't resist this one on a painting trip to Whitby. I adore panoramas of this nature were you can just hear the waves crashing against the rocks below. I just stand and stare at the scene with thoughts running wild, the fact that this is what it must have looked and sounded like thousands of years ago. Here I think is a good example of the importance of foreground. I try to accentuate the contrast between the far off background and the foreground by your feet by applying the paint thickly with a palette knife using aggressive strokes ensuring that the colours are much riches in tonal value to the background colours.
