| I think in a lot of situations, the simpler the composition of a canvas the better. This is another example of myself not having to travel very far to get a good subject for a painting. It was very tempting to paint in more buildings in the background, in fact I did, but not only did it spoil the composition, I did in the end feel I wanted to catch the place accurately. The buildings were duly painted out and replaced with a Kingfisher looking down on some small fish just breaking the water. It is nice when people look at the print for ages and then discover the bird. I always try to give people a painting to scan and discover little things as their eyes drift across the image, with something new to discover each time they look at it. | ||
