The flying Fortress was a heavy Strategic bomber built by Boeing in the United States. It’s first flight was on the 28th, July 1935 and came into active service in April 1938. It surprisingly survived in service until 1968 flying with the Brazilian Air Force. It was produced between 1936 and 1945 and served with the Royal Air Force during the war. In all, a total of 12,731 units were built.
The classic Flying Fortresses seen during a descent from 18,000ft. The B17Gs are of the 379th Bomb Group, 525th. Bomb Squadron. These two aircraft unfortunately, after a successful raid over enemy territory, collided with each other shortly before arrival at their destination.
