Undoubtedly the most painted windmill in Norfolk, possibly the country. Most people paint the mill from the other side, but I decided to try it from the East. I liked the marshland as a foreground to the composition. I will let you into a little secret which wont be a secret any more from now. I love to see images that have been painted so often they become visual clichés and think to myself, "I wonder if I can do a better job of it?" I have a go and am usually happy with the final result but are they better? One of the first things I was determined to do was to catch the contrast between the white tower cowl and the sky. This is always easy to do as the sky can just be darkened immediately behind the cowl to draw out the contrast.
